Energy efficiency standards

In general, the energy efficiency standards in China give the energy efficiency allowable values (minimum energy efficiency requirement, or MEPS), energy conservation values, energy efficiency grade, testing methods and verification methods. The energy efficiency allowable values are market access values, and products with more energy consumption are forbidden to enter into China market. The energy efficiency grade is used in mandatory energy efficiency labels, and products are divided into 3 or 5 levels according to energy efficiency index. Through the energy efficiency grade shown on the labels, consumers can identify the high energy efficiency products. The energy conservation values are used in the voluntary energy conservation certification. Once reaching the energy conservation values (high energy efficiency), the products can apply for energy conservation certification, and affix the certification mark.
Until September, 2012, China has published eleven energy efficiency standards related to household appliances, which is shown in the table below:
